WOLCOTT MILL - Investigation 6/6/15 - Ray, Michigan

Wolcott Mill was constucted in 1847 by a miller named Freeman, and was operated as a grist mill and feed mill. The mill passed through multiple owners, including John Smith, Norman Crawford, and Frank Ritter, before being purchased by Fred B. Wolcott in 1878 and operated the mill till aleast 1905.

The mill closed in 1967 and in 1989 the mill openend as part of Wolcott Mill Metropark.

At the Historic Center, visit one of the few historic grist and feed mills remaining today, and a barn museum to discover the importance of old mills and the history of American barns, complete with antique farming equipment and a restored Model T dump truck. The mill, pond and two adjacent barns located on the property are listed on the National Register of Historic Places through the National Park Service, Department of Interior.

The story is that for years, employees and others have had incidents of unexplained phenomena occurring at the Old Wolcott Mill park in the buildings and surrounding grounds. Such things as unexplained footsteps, whispered voices and even the occasional fleeting shadow.

The SSSOMPI sisters attended an event sponsored by Haunted Travels of Michigan (HTOM). It was a fun event and we met some other women who are into the paranormal.
